The Catholic Church, formerly calledthe St.Michael’s Cathedral, is designed by the German architecture designer Bialucha according to the Gothic and Roman architectural style. The cathedral should have been one-hundred-meter high. However, Hitler restricted the outflow of funds from Germanydue to the breakout of the World War II. The design drawings had to be modified, and a cathedral of the current scale has been built. The construction work was kicked off in 1932 and completed in 1934. With a height of 56 meters, it was the highest building in Shandong Province before 1949. It is now the only consecrated church in China.
