Plot summary: Mia (Emma Stone) desired to become an actor. But so far she was still just an ordinary barista in the coffee shop on the set. Despite her continuous participation in large and small auditions, Mia still failed. One day at a party, Mia met a man named Sebastian (Ryan Gosling). At first they had trivial conflicts, but soon, Mia was attracted by Sebastian's shining talent and his pure pursuit of jazz. Finally they fell in love with each other.

Encouraged by Sebastian, Mia quit her job in the cafe, and concentrated on writing a script for herself. At the same time, in order to obtain a stable income, Sebastian joined a popular jazz band, and started playing modern jazz he did not like. His band unexpectedly became a hit. With the passage of time, when they two were pursuing their dreams, the distance between them expanded. They had to make a choice between dreams and love.
