The Qingdao Film Museum was officially opened to the public on July 20. Being the oldest existing cinema in China, Qingdao Film Museum is located at the former site of Sailors’ Club, 17 Hubei Road, Shinan District. Here you can see the earliest repaired film and the fantasy of the precious old projector.
Many valuable film archives and articles will meet with visitors for the first time. “The Qingdao Film Museum has collected a thousand pieces of objects including film copies, scripts, film posters, and film equipment,” said Yue Chengbo, the curator. One of the most precious objects is the early projector. The German projector made in 1940 can still be used to show a film after repair. In 1895, Lumiere Brothers showed films in France for the first time. They showed a total of 12 films including Exiting the Factory, The Train Pulled into the Station, and The Watered Waterer, etc., which all can be watched at Qingdao Film Museum. Nickelodeon, the early form of a cinema and other archives of Singer Red Peony, Down-trodden Peach Blossom and Floating Landscape shot in Qingdao can also be seen in the museum.
