To enrich the night life in the countryside, Qingdao founded the Farmer's Film Festival in 1998. It has a history of nearly twenty years already. The festival is sponsored by the Qingdao Municipal Government and undertook by the film companies and enterprises. Every year nearly two months during the film festival, more than 200 feature films and science films are played 3,000 times all over Qingdao, with a total number of audience up to 1 million.
